The SS-TL-2 is a single barrier and is designed as a “non-lethal” vehicle security barrier. The Model SS-TL-2 SoftStop™ Security Barrier has successfully passed full scale crash tests of NCHRP 350 TL-2. The National Cooperative Highway Research Program 350 (NCHRP) is recognized by the Federal Highway Authority (FHWA) as the absolute standard governing highway safety and barrier devices.
The TL-2 design and designation covers all vehicles weighing up to 4400 pounds travelling at 45 mph with regard to structural adequacy, occupant risk and vehicle trajectory. The design of the TL-2 units incorporates features that, upon impact with a TL-2 barrier, occupants of a vehicle without airbag protection who are not wearing seatbelts will avoid serious injury.
